Ethan & Grandma

Nothin’ says lovin’ like a hug from your Grandma, and this photo sums up one of the things I love most… FAMILY.

“Grandma” is otherwise known as Aunt Pat, although she’s actually The Daddy’s cousin. She’s a Very Special Person, and one of the first people I met in this family Lo those Many Years Ago. Alot of my sense of humor and manner of interacting with people was developed under her influence, and I just love her to pieces. Her 6 grandkids are the light of her life, if you couldn’t tell by the happy look on her face as she snuggles with Ethan.

Happy Birthday, Roger!

I can hardly believe that my firstborn is now 24 years old. But just look at what a kickass rocker he turned out to be!

Photo not taken by me (obviously), but by a friend while we were out at the local waterin’ hole last week. We were just experimenting with the cameras while I was trying to pick up a few tips - and Roger dropped by to hang out for a bit. Yay, you get to see me after work, in my glasses, no makeup, and with the current state of my growing-out hair. But hey, it’s me. And I was having a blast just being myself and spending some time with friends.

ANYWAY, I love this boy. He rocks my world, and I love to show him off. I’m just glad he actually enjoys hanging out with his crazy mother once in a while.

Happy Birthday, Roger! We love you!!!

Kitty Crack

Today I received my package for the Fleece Study, and I have to tell ya - it was the best $75 I’ve ever spent. Not only that, but I’ll be doing my best to get the lady who put it together to come out here and do a workshop… and I won’t hesitate to pay for an in-person workshop even though I’ve already got the materials in hand. Fabulous stuff, I tell ya.

I got a binder full of information and reminder sheets to track what I learn about the different fibers as I work with them, and 45 packages of different breeds, including some very rare ones.

Not that you can really tell from this photo, but Isis thinks I bought her some Kitty Crack. Right off the bat she plucked a bag of Border Leicester out of the pile, and proceeded to roll around all over / rub on / chew / pat it like you’d expect a cat to do with catnip… only she doesn’t like catnip. Then once she’d absorbed all the Border Leicester aroma she could handle without going into either a seizure or a coma, she moved on to all the rest of the bags. I could hardly get her away from them long enough to take this photo (see her mid-snorfle in the top left?).

Egress Window #2 of 3 is about 80% complete as I type this. Alex has 1 week left of his Certified Nursing Assistant course - his goal is to be a Nurse Anesthetist, and he’s loving every bit of it so far. Roger just called to say he’s on his way over for a day or two. The Daddy has been working himself to death on those windows the last few days, and I am on call - but I managed to organize my office today, and stack all my yarns & fibers on the shelving so I can actually see what I’ve got available. Last night I finished spinning the fiber for my HHHH pal, and ordered a goodie from Etsy to go in the parcel.

There’s just so much awesomeness going on that I can hardly stand it. I had a brief moment of sad while listening to the Stitch-It Podcast this morning - Meghan was discussing what a difference a year can make, and asking what was going on in our lives a year ago. Wow. We were in the middle of losing a lot of our loved ones, which I’m glad to be done with for the time being, but I was sad to realize that this time last year I still had my mom. That was a rough moment, but I’m trying to focus on the positives, live in the moment, and look forward to the future.

I may just distract myself with a wee trip to the BMW dealer this afternoon…. Not that we can afford one right now, but there’s a certain Hugger Orange Camaro RS in the garage that “needs” to be sold so we CAN afford one. Heh heh heh.
